Shuang Yi is a small producer of teas based in Menghai, they specialize in Banna teas, but also produce teas from Lancang (Jingmai, Bang Wei, and Hui Ming) as well. This is a first flush spring 2006 production from Jing Mai Mountain tea. The production is (likely) composed of plantation Jing Mai tea leaves, but the result is really excellent. The cake has been dry stored in Kunming since 2006 and has aged steadily since then. The Jing Mai taste is in full swing with this tea. Lots of orchid and dried plum fruitiness present, but countered with a fairly strong (but not overpowering) strong bitter/astringent aspect. Being semi-aged and affordable make this a good that can be picked up now and put away for further aging. It's a good example of what a well processed and cleanly stored plantation Jing Mai mountain tea can deliver in just over a decade. 357 Grams per cake 2006 pressing (Shuang Yi Tea Factory of Menghai)
