Tie Luohan (Iron Arhat) is a very famous cliff Oolong tea produced from the Wuyi mountain region of Northern Fujian province in China. This tea is similar to the Da Hong Pao, which is famous for its "Yan Yun", a source of energy to the body. The traditional Tie Luohan tea has a floral fragrance, and a strong robust taste with a little bitterness. However, since this rare Tie Luoha has been kept for twenty years in Vancouver, the bitterness has been mostly smoothed down through aging. The liquid has a clear brown color and it has a special medicinal aged flavour which usually only exists in Pu-erh teas over 40 years old. *** I bought theis Tie Luohan about 10 years ago. The design of the metal box looks similar like the Tie Luohan from 1990s (except this one has no Sea Dyke logo on left top side). I tasted this tea many times with different friends. We all believed this tea should be over 30 years old, because the unique medicinal flavour usually takes at least 40+ years to be developed. After few years of study and research, I found more information to indicate this tea is made in late 1970's. Update on May 25, 2020
