This region finds itself nestled between the Himalayas, the Brahmaputra plains and the Deccan plateau, making it one of the richest biodiversity zones in the world. It boasts heavy rainfall (2,500-3,000mm annually) and rich, fertile soil well-suited to Tea-growing. Around 312,210 hectares of land is used for such purposes. Estimates suggest that Assam accounts for about 13% of global Tea production, with 570 million kilos exported each year.
