Orchid Tieguanyin | 蘭香鐵觀音 Tasting notes: Bright, vegetal, floral Origin: Anxi, Fujian, China Cultivar: 紅心歪尾桃 Hongxin Waiweitao (Tieguanyin) Elevation: 300m Oxidation: ⦿⦿○○○ A brisk, fresh-tasting oolong with vegetal flavour notes of winter melon and melon seed, and a floral aroma. An exceptional tea for those who prize freshness and natural floral fragrances. Why we love it: It was made by a small family farm situated in Anxi, the birthplace of Tieguanyin or "Iron Buddha"/"Iron Goddess of Mercy" tea. It is lightly oxidised, giving it a green colour and a savoury vegetal flavour, with a naturally floral aroma. It is harvested in spring and undergoes a highly complex processing method where the leaves are rolled into a semi-ball shape, for quicker unfurling. With a strong flavour and long lasting aftertaste, this tea is great as a palate-cleanser after meals.
