THE 2025 HARVEST ARRIVES ON MAY 23 AT OUR TEA BAR This tea will be featured in our August Steamed Tea Club. If Kagoshima kabusecha and winter melon had offspring... This tea is a sibling of our best-selling Chiran Shincha. It is intensely green (almost blue), with an uncanny sweetness reminiscent of winter melon. These leaves are shaded for two weeks, increasing the chlorophyll and depth of flavour of this delicious tea. Note: this tea is very different vs. our Kirishima Asatsuyu. Tea Info TYPE Green Tea ORIGIN Chiran, Kagoshima, Japan GPS 31.4ºN 130.4ºE TASTING NOTES Winter Melon | Pomelo GROWER Furuichi Family Brewing Guide CHIRAN SHINCHA - ASATSUYU WATER 70℃ | 158℉ 240ml | 8oz TEA 1 tbsp | 4g TIME 180 " EQUIPMENT Kyusu Summer Brewing Suggestion: This delicious, fresh, shade grown tea happen to be ideal for mizudashi (ice brewing). If you'd some suggestions, please check our this video that we made for Asastsuyu sencha. The parameters are the same. About The Producer After World War II, grandfather Furuichi had only a bike and a love for tea. He biked through the Chiran region in Japan buying tea leaves and making his own tea. Now his tea company is run by three generations of the Furuichi family and produces some of the best sencha we’ve ever had. They use top of the line equipment and over 10 different cultivars to produce tea that bursts with citrus notes and tastes like nothing we’ve ever had before. Grower on the map
