One of our favourite named mountains, Kunlu is most well-known for its wild (and wild-ish) old tree teas. Although this tea uses more modest arbour material, it manages to do a fine job keeping up with the big trees. There is a full flavour and texture, along with a deceptive strength that will sneak up on you. This tea starts out as a doe-eyed vegetal and mineral-sweet flavour, grazing in your mouth, but develops into a significantly thicker and richer flavour with each brew. As the flavour coats the mouth and follows you around, this tea will leave you wondering why it’s not double the price. This tea could easily be filed under the “buy one for now, one for storage” category, if not a tong. Picking period: Pre-April 9 $0.29/gram Please note: The dragon balls for this tea have been sold out, so samples will still be offered in the same size, but broken from the cake.
