Jasmine Snow Drops | 茉莉飄雪 Tasting notes: Jasmine, sweet guava, crisp Origin: Ya'an, Sichuan, China Oxidation: ⦿○○○○This bud-only green tea is harvested in spring and blended with jasmine blossoms that float in the water, like delicate snowflakes. Why we love it: The green tea has smooth, balanced flavour, as it consists entirely of buds - the most prized part of the tea plant. It is a high quality tea, grown at high altitudes and made from the first spring harvest before Qingming Festival, when the leaves are the softest. It takes a lot of work to produce: fresh jasmine blossoms are layered in with green tea leaves and left overnight, then separated out for fresh blossoms to be layered in. This process is repeated eight times so the leaves absorb the flowers' essential oils. Dried flowers are added to the final mix, and when brewed, the green tea leaves sink to the bottom and the blossoms float like snowflakes. What is green tea?
