This certified organic ceremonial matcha from the Wazuka region in Kyoto is a first flush tea picked in early June and carefully stone-ground. It is a single cultivar (Okumidori) grown in a single estate tea field at 210 m altitude. As with most matcha teas made from this cultivar, this matcha has a beautiful deep green colour. It has an aroma of sweet hay and peas, a malty, root vegetable bitter-sweetness with notes of ocean mineral umami and a refreshing astringent finish. This matcha is best enjoyed the traditional manner whisked in hot water, but is also good as an ingredient in lattes and smoothies.
