Roasted Yerba-Maté is a rich, full-bodied and smooth brew. Flavours of coffee and toast make it deeply satisfying and quite different to conventional teas. Prepared from the evergreen shrub, Illex paraguayensis, Yerba Maté is the traditional drink throughout Latin America. When roasted, it’s toasty, slightly creamy - reminiscent of Japanese Hōjicha. The traditional green version of Yerba Maté is high in caffeine, but the roasting process softens that a little, although it still remains pretty punchy. The caffeine kick and breakfasty flavour profile make for a great morning pick-me-up. A lovely option when you want to try something a little different.
