Sannen Bancha | 三年熟成薪火番茶 Tasting notes: Smokey, earthy, grassy Origin: Miyazaki Prefecture, Japan Oxidation: ○○○○○Bancha is a type of Japanese green tea literally translated as "common tea". Made from the larger, more mature leaves and stems harvested later in the season, it is generally considered a cheaper, everyday tea. Our bancha is picked from summer to autumn and then aged for three years. When the tea is sufficiently aged it is hand-roasted over a wood fire in a flat kiln, resulting in a smoother, more mellow drink. The aging process also greatly reduces the caffeine content, making it a friendly tea suitable for all ages.
