Orange Pekoe grade black tea from the Ciater highlands in western Java, plucked during the August-to-September harvest. Tea has grown on Java and Sumatra for nearly 190 years, since Dutch settlers first introduced the plant to the islands. The dry leaf is large and dark reddish, and in the cup it turns a shining copper colour. Expect a strong, fruity character with orange notes running through the aroma and taste — brisk rather than delicate. Steep in freshly boiled water for three to five minutes.
