Overview
Best pick • solid black choice from Unknown origin
Pairing: breakfast pastries, aged cheese, or dark chocolate

A simple, yet lively, full-bodied green tea. Marigold-floral with a grassy broth and a touch of astringency. An excellent value. This extremely rare green tea from Kenya is one of the few green teas outside China and Japan that is worth your attention. Produced from the first Kenyan tea factory licensed to make orthodox style teas. This tea comes from plants growing at 6,500 feet in the Nandi Hills of Kenya. Kenya has the environment to produce some of the finest teas in the world. From the 1940's to the 1970’s, some of the best British-style black teas were from Kenya. From the 1980's through the 2000's, they converted most of their tea industry from orthodox production (a more labor intensive, but higher quality approach to making tea) to CTC (machine) production. They also placed a stronger emphasis on increasing yield at the expense of quality. In the last 10 years, there has been a movement in Kenya back toward the orthodox approach. Ingredients: green tea Steeping Instructions 3 grams | 10-12 oz water | 175°F | Steep 3 min. Number of Cups 2 oz makes 19 cups, 4 oz makes 38 cups, 1 lb makes 151 cups
