Overview
Style: Black Origin: Fujian Province, China Description: Our Black Dragon is a Congou from Fujian, the province where much of the tea trade in China has grown its international reputation. Congou is tea trade language for "gongfu" which essentially translates to skill, patience and best practice – necessary attributes for creating a truly fine black. Black Dragon is a blend of richly dark leaves and playful golden buds from an early spring harvest which have been shaped in the typical Fujian style. A well-made Congou offers a complex tea with malt and toasty sweetness. This black tea would serve as an excellent morning cup and can be enjoyed during the day as a refreshing cup. Take note of how you feel before and after drinking this tea! Tasting Notes: A fragrant sweet and toasty steam rises from the steep. The large leaves unfurl to reveal a wide complexity that is woven together by the warmth of the fired leaf. Soft dark chocolate blends with a malted hay. This tea offers a clean and lush full-mouth feel at the front and a gently building dryness at the back of the palate. There is no astringency. Hints of toasted peaches and a delicate spice arise alongside a faint rosey disposition. This tea invites exploration and experimentation with subsequent steeping to discover deeper complexities. Brewing Instructions: 3 grams (2 tsp) per cup. 90-95ºC water. Steep 2-3 minutes. Drain the leaves between steeps and re-steep multiple times.
