We did some digging before building this and have found that there are a few other sites that cover similar ground, but we wanted to create something that is more focused on education and discovery. We're not trying to build a tea journal, forum, or online store (at least for now). The focus is on treating tea products as the atomic unit of content and prioritizing utility without being too pedantic.

We're working on it! My partner and I are both developers (although in very different fields) and enjoy treating this as a side project we do together. Entries are compiled from scraped producer documentation, user provided data, and established tea industry references. When information is uncertain or debated, we aim to note that clearly. When you see content with a solid line, the data comes from the brand. When you see an animated multi-colored border, the data is AI generated. When you see a dotted line border, the data is a recommended default based on what we know about the tea.

Yes. Tea knowledge evolves as processing methods, research, and regional practices change. Entries may be expanded, refined, or corrected as new information becomes available. There are 3 types of companies on the platform: brands, vendors, and producers. Brands are companies that sell tea products, vendors are companies that sell tea products (either online or at physical stores), and producers are companies that grow, cultivate, and process tea leaves. Naturally there are many companies that do several or all these things.
