Overview
Baozhong is an open leaf oolong tea, the greenest produced in Taiwan. The leaves are long, spindly and deep forest green. Baozhong is beloved in Taiwan for its fragrance. I always feel that good Baozhong has a note like fresh snappy beans from the garden.Dry leaves have a bright jade color, and give off a fresh, snappy aroma when they hit hot porcelain. Garden fresh snappy beans and little white flowers make up the bright pop of aroma. Empty cup scent is powdery and sweet. Broth is zippy and agile on the tongue with an elegant development that reaches the back of the mouth with a subtle slight bitterness and blooms outward with substantial floral aftertaste. Bright and shimmering.Unlike the more intricate florals of high mountain oolong, Baozhong cuts through with a brilliant scent that is more direct. If you have ever been into Jasmine tea and look for oolong with a floral scent, you should consider this tea. Also quite popular with folks who enjoy Fujianese green style Tie Guanyin.
