Overview
A tea that is as sensuous as it is mysterious, Song Zhong Black originated as an esteemed Phoenix variety with mythos of its elegant repute dating back to the Song Dynasty. One of the Dancong mother trees dating back hundreds of years, it's typically processed as a medium-roast oolong to heighten its legendary caramelized sugar and melon notes. One of our long-time producers of the distinguished Wudong region, the Wen family, experimented with its processing to create a beautifully modern black tea, pronouncing its roasted dark fruit notes with candied sugars and delicate florals. This is a tea still revealing new dimensions of its enigmatic character with every steep.
