Overview
This unique tea is placed directly into the rolling machines for sencha, but the rollers are set to provide very little pressure. Hot air is blown into the machines as in normal sencha production but without the pressure of the rollers, it essentially dries the leaf without rolling, similar to the production of tencha (the leaf used to make matcha). Flavor Profile Using the below steeping parameters, we taste a light, translucent tea with mild astringency, and surprisingly sweet vegetal flavor. The bitterness that you might expect from a bancha is very light. Steeping Recommendation Tea: 5 grams. Time: 60 sec. Water: 90C/194F, 200 ml. The manufacturer recommends steeping it cold, 10g, 1-2L, refrigerating for 5 hours.
