Overview
For those who like a thick shou with plenty of meat on the bones, then this tea is for you. This tea is thick and dense in both flavour and mouthfeel, with even a touch of residual bitterness to make things interesting. There is a slight woodiness in the flavour, which is balanced by a nice huigan and slight sweetness. It bears worth repeating that this tea is seriously thick, brewing up into soy sauce consistency. Even when brewing with a light hand, this tea comes in full force. We sample dozens of different shou productions and piles throughout the year, but this particular one stands out amongst the rest. Even though bold in just about every way, it still manages to have a clean taste without any notable fermentation flavour or off note. As far as value puer goes, this is as close to ideal as we’ve seen yet. $0.15/gram
