Style: Herbal Origin: South Africa Description: Pure, oxidized honeybush offers a bright, red-gold infusion. Honeybush is produced from the Cyclopia intermedia plant which grows in the Western and Eastern Cape Provinces of South Africa. This tisane gets its name from the honey-sweet scent of abundant yellow flowers that are often present during harvesting time, although it is the leaves of the bush that are used to produce beverage. It is a cousin of the Rooibos plant and shares many similarities, though it is considered comparatively fruitier and a bit sweeter in taste. The steep is robust, with a complex sweetness similar to the cup’s aroma - reminiscent of dark berries and wildflowers. Unlike the camelia sinensis (tea) plant, honeybush does not bitter when steeped for long periods of time – it is frequently simmered on a stove throughout the day, lending its beautiful scent to the room as well as your teacup. Enjoy on its own or with a spot of milk. Tasting Notes: A delicate, deep sweetness and the scent of dark berries dance on the nose and palate, with wisps of mild honey and a vanilla linger.
