Overview
Style: Herbal Origin: South Africa Description: Rooibos is produced from the Aspalathus linearis shrub, also known as “red bush.” The plant is native to the Cederberg Mountains of South Africa. Once plucked and collected, the leaves are processed into a tisane. After harvest, the cut branches undergo an oxidation process similar to the processing involved in the creation of black tea; This technique brings out the rich, warm red colouring of the harvest, both in the branches and in the steep, and enhances the flavour into a full-bodied and naturally sweet cup. This pure, organic rooibos steeps to a beautiful clear red amber infusion. Earthy wood notes add an almost savoury aroma to the fruity and vanilla-sweet finish. This tisane is excellent on its own, or with a touch of milk or milk alternative when brewing a stronger infusion. Many people now use it as a base for tea lattés; the natural sweetness of rooibos and the colouring of the steep hold up against milk almost as well as a black tea. This makes it an excellent caffeine-free alternative for those who still want a touch of milk and honey in their cup. Tasting Notes: Lightly fruity with a full-mouth flavour and gentle earthiness. Brewing Instructions: 2g per cup. 100ºC water. steep 5+ minutes. Organic | Caffeine-free
