Overview
This unusual white tea is from the Jinggu region of Yunnan Province, and is made out of a large leaf downy cultivar. Hand-picked in the spring, its processing involves a longer withering time out of direct light—which allows for slight oxidation—yielding a more robust flavor and rose-gold liquor color than other teas in the category, like White Peony or Silver Needle. Abundant silky silver buds stand out among the dark leaves, contributing aromas of white flowers and fresh berries, with strong balsamic-woody notes and a sweet hay flavor. Characteristic of Yunnan teas, the taste lingers through long steeping sessions. Use water below boiling (around 185°F), or try ambient or cold infusion for a different perspective.
