Overview
Originally developed as an experiment, this tea has now become a yearly staple in our lineup and one that we look forward to each year. With slight adjustments in tea selection and formula from one pressing to another, there are always new nuances and characteristics to discover. This year’s blend employs the smooth and rich character of Menghai shou puer with the fragrance and sweet qualities of traditionally processed Fengqing black tea. Overall this tea offers a nice salivating quality, with slight notes of spice. While our 2022 pressing displayed more of the ripe puer’s character after a few infusions, this tea gives a little more equal treatment to both teas right out of the gate. With that said, our experience with previous pressings has shown that the flavours can be expected to develop and meld over time, exchanging dominance during storage. At a price that fits any budget, this tea is also a great candidate for picking up a tong of, as it performs well both for drinking now and for longer term storage. $0.13/gram
