Overview
Found in nearly all tropical climates, the roselle species of the hibiscus flower is the one most commonly used for culinary purposes. Although it is also used in Middle-Eastern savory cooking, hibiscus is most popular in a variety of teas (herbal in particular) and other beverages. Known for imparting tart and fruity notes, hibiscus also yields a desirable red color.
