Overview
Composed of mixed picking material (mostly qiaomu/arbour, picked together with some nearby big trees), this tea effectively lays out what we feel a quality tea from the region should be, but at an accessible price. The fragrance is rich, the texture full and smooth, and there is a pronounced minerality and sweetness that complements a pleasant bitterness. This balance of quality makes for an enjoyable session all the way through. One of the premier regions in Mengsong, Naka has a reputation for producing powerful teas with uncommonly strong energy, texture and fragrance, as well as a βYanyunβ quality. Much of the unique qualities of Naka, such as the above mentioned Yanyun, are believed to be due to the rocky terrain of the main slopes. This quality is often associated with Wuyi Yancha, and vaguely refers to the energy/chaqi, texture, fragrance and sweetness that can affect tea trees growing in rockier terrain. Aside from rocks, Naka is also known for the many large, flowering trees that grow amongst the tea trees, which may or may not contribute to its uniqueness. A strong value tea, this is one that performs well at any age, whether drinking now or storing for later. $0.29/gram Region: Naka (Mengsong), Xishuangbanna Prefecture Picking Period: March 26-30, 2025
