Silver Needle White Tea | 白毫銀針 Tasting notes: Bright, cucumber, melon Origin: Fuding, Fujian, China Cultivar: 福鼎大白 Fuding Dabai Elevation: 620m Oxidation: ⦿○○○○ *Spring 2025 Harvest, limited stock only* Our Silver Needle is from Mr Mei, our trusted farmer in Fujian, the capital of white tea in China. The buds are picked in the first spring harvest, before the plants have had much sun, so the new leaves are extra plump and juicy. This top-grade tea is made entirely of the youngest furry, silvery buds, yielding a light, refreshing tea packed with antioxidants. Why we love it: It's the top picking grade of white tea: "Needle" means only buds and "Silver" refers to the white fur on the buds. It's made entirely of buds - the most prized part of the tea plant with a high concentration of nutrients. Thousands of buds are needed to make just one kilo of tea. It's made from the Fuding Dabai cultivar, which has especially furry buds. The fur gives a delicate flavour and soft texture to the tea. It's minimally processed: the buds are simply withered and dried, preserving their nutrients and honouring their natural flavour. Our Silver Needle is from Mr Mei, our trusted farmer in Fujian, the capital of white tea in China. The buds are picked in the first spring harvest, before the plants have had much sun, so the new leaves are extra plump and juicy. What is white tea?
