Of the many varieties of Dan Congs is the Qunti Xiang, produced in the Phoenix Mountain of China’s Guangdong province. Grown and processed using traditional methods, the long, twisted dry tea leaves are chestnut-colored, with a clean, floral scent. As the leaves unfurled in its first brewing, the tea becomes very inviting with a pleasant aroma of osmanthus flowers, followed by punctuated flavors of fresh peaches and peach kernels, and slowly finishes off with a slight bitterness. While this tea may seem to be richer and floral, with each infusion it continues to evolve to bring out the backbone characteristics of traditional Dan Cong, with lingering floral notes and strong “huigan”. This tea is best brewed using a lower temperature of ~92°С(197F) in the first few infusions and then slowly increasing the temperature after each infusion, allowing you to enjoy a fuller range of aroma and flavors this tea brings.
