Reportedly named after Charles Grey, known as the second Earl Grey and British Prime Minister from 1830 to 1834. There are several versions of the stories relating to the creation of this tea. One of them suggests that whilst Charles Grey served as Prime Minister, a gift of some scented tea was received from China. With this gift came a note, thanking him as one of Grey’s men had saved the senders son from drowning. Originally, Earl Grey was created as a scented Chinese black tea. However, it is believed that Charles Grey asked English Tea merchants to replicate it adding bergamot oil. Bergamot trees grow almost exclusively in Calabria, Southern Italy. Our Earl Grey is a unique blend of black tea and bergamot oil also containing elegantly beautiful blue cornflower. Presented in a sky blue and rose gold decorative caddie – A vibrant floral black tea with a lingering sweet, citrusy honey finish. BREWING GUIDE 100 Degrees Water 3g / 3 mins
