This is not a tea. At least not by the taxonomical understanding of Camellia sinensis. The 24th entry in the Taiwanese Tea Research and Extension Station’s catalogue is from centuries-old wild mountain parents—a distinct species with a unique morphology: long, linear leaves. Dubbed ‘Shan Yun’, the plant is naturally vigorous and well-adapted to climate change. Rife in amino acids while sparse in tannin and caffeine, Shan Yun is a smooth, soothing sipper. We are honored to be the first tea importer to offer #24 to the public, directly from TRES.
