I'm excited to offer another special hand-rolled black tea from Sri Lanka which combines fantastic social commitment with a great taste! Possessing a wonderful smooth taste with a spicy finish coupled with a gentle briskness. A Sri Lankan tea which I'm truly honoured to be the very first vendor of! The SereneTea team can be seen posing with our shipment which is the very first parcel they ever sent out. It took them six weeks to produce the six kilograms ordered, demonstrating just how small and artisanal their operations are. SereneTea were setup recently by two Sri Lankan locals Shiromi and Kithsiri, who stepped back from their successful professional careers in law and engineering to setup a tea garden and small production facility to give back to the local area and people. SereneTea's commitment to sustainability, community, and ethical practices involve: Adopting Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Prioritizing organic methods, balanced fertilizer use, and sustainable water management Providing flexible employment opportunities for local women, supporting their families and livelihoods Running a profit-sharing model to ensure fair economic participation Supporting the village school through CSR initiatives Restoring land once cleared for rubber into a thriving, biodiverse tea garden Tasting Notes:- Brilliant aroma- Smooth with a spicy brisk finish Harvest: February-April 2025 Altitude: 350m (Low Grown)Plucking Standard: One bud and one leafCultivars: Blend of majority young (TRI2043 and TRI2026) and mature (TRI2026) bushesOrigin: SereneTea Garden, Kiriporuwa, Eheliyagoda, Ratnapura District, Sri LankaSourced: Direct from the farmers Shiromi and KithsiriPercentage of price going back to the farmer: 25%+ Brewing Advice:- Heat water to roughly 95°C/203°F- Use 2 teaspoons per cup/small teapot- Brew for 3-4 minutes Packaging: Resealable ziplock bag
