Spring and Summer 2022 material, young and old trees mixed Fermented in Menghai in 2023, 8 tons pile Good medicinal fragrance and very warming, soft taste The tea farmer who makes our Bangwai cakes has become a good friend, she often visits us in Pu'er city on the weekends. They have one of the largest tea factories in Bangwai area and produce over ten tons a year. Due to a cancelled order in 2022, they got a lot of tea on their hands. They took it to Menghai for fermentation. While we often praise small-batch productions, fermentation works better at scale. There was a time when small-batch fermentation was fashionable in Menghai, but it turned out the results are unstable. All fermentation masters will tell you that the more material available, the better the result. This is a very affordable ripe Pu-erh that ticks all the boxes at this price range. The naturally soft material of Bangwai area is a good candidate for a smooth and warming fermented tea. It has a decent aromatic complexity, still a bit of Dui Wei (the taste of the fermentation). It will keep smoothing over the months and years. An excellent choice for casual sipping or hungover gongfu sessions.
