Originally sourced on our Kickstarter trip several years ago to Yunnan, we are happy to offer you this tea. Loose-leaf Pu-erh is also known as "Mao cha" and is simply tea that has not been pressed into cakes. Mao cha ages a bit faster as you might imagine but is harder to transport in any bulk. Therefore most of it gets pressed into either raw or ripe cakes. I suggest you go ahead and buy a pound of this and age it over the next several years drinking it every several months. Just store it in a large, loosely covered jar in most climates. It'll slowly thicken up, mellow out and take on interesting notes that change over the years. It's a lot of fun and very rewarding! Lightly oxidized mao cha like this is technically called pu-erh tea but can be considered a type of green tea or as a living tea called "sheng cha". This batch is fresh Spring 2020 hand-made loose leaf puerh tea. Grown organically without chemical pesticides but no certification.
