Oohashiri is a fragrant, piercing shincha that captures the essence of the early harvest. Its vivid sweetness speaks to meticulous leaf selection, while its striking color reflects the signature character of Chiran, Kagoshima. This is a tea defined by its moment—available only in the narrow window of early spring, when the freshness of the early ripening Kuritawase cultivar and perennial favorite Saemidori cultivar are at their peak. Crafted under the care of Ikeda-san, a 10th-degree tea master, this is far from an ordinary seasonal release. It is a clear, confident expression of shincha at its highest level.Shincha is an indicator of the arrival of spring, and this young, fresh green tea is sold for only a small window of time, roughly one month. We're selling our 2026 selections as pre-orders, launching them as soon as the teas are harvested. Domestic pre-orders will ship as soon as the tea arrives in our Brooklyn warehouse—typically within 2 weeks of launch.
