A green rooibos base carries this blend, layered with cocoa peel, orange peel, coconut chips, liquorice root, raspberry leaf, peppermint, and a scatter of blue cornflower and marigold petals on top. Everything in it is organically grown. In the cup it leans sweet and dessert-like, chocolate and coconut up front, with a cool mint finish that recalls an Aero bar. The liquor itself comes out a warm golden amber.
Because rooibos doesn't carry the tannins or bitterness of true tea, it takes a long steep well: give it 8 to 10 minutes with 50g of leaf, using water that's come just off the boil rather than a rolling boil. Drink it plain, there's no need for milk or sweetener with a blend this naturally sweet.
Tea & Coffee packs this one fresh to order rather than pulling from stock, and ships it in a card-and-foil pouch meant to hold onto freshness longer than a plain paper bag would. Once it arrives, keep it in an airtight container away from heat and strong-smelling neighbours in the cupboard, since rooibos picks up other scents easily.
Organic growing means no pesticide residue in the mix, worth knowing if that's something you screen for, though it isn't on its own a reason to expect any particular effect from the cup.
