About Teatico

A free tea database and encyclopedia, built and run by one person.

What Teatico is

Teatico documents individual tea products — the specific teas you can actually buy and brew — as structured encyclopedia entries. Each profile covers flavor and aroma notes, brewing parameters (temperature, steep time, leaf ratio), origin, caffeine, and the brand behind it. Teatico is not a store and not a forum: it's a reference. If you want to browse, start with the tea search or the flavor explorer.

Who runs it

Teatico is built and maintained by Flawnson Tong, a software developer and tea drinker, as an independent project — no company, no team, no investors. Development happens in the open: you can follow releases on the changelog.

How the data is sourced

Tea profiles are compiled from producer and vendor documentation, community contributions, and established tea references. Not every field comes from the same place, so Teatico labels its data: information provided by the brand is marked as brand-sourced, values filled from sensible category defaults are marked as defaults, and AI-assisted fields are visibly labeled as such on each tea page. The FAQ explains the labeling system in detail. If you spot an error, the feedback button on any page goes straight to the issue tracker.

Affiliate disclosure

Teatico is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon. As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases. Some links to other tea vendors may also be affiliate links. Affiliations never affect how a tea is documented, rated, or ranked — the encyclopedia data is the same whether or not a purchase link exists.
