Overview
Translating to Eagle’s Cliff, Giddapahar is the only estate in Darjeeling that has been under Indian ownership since its founding in 1888, and is still owned by the same family. The fourth generation now heads up production, living on the farm year-round. Its rocky soil and rugged terrain—with elevations up to about 5,000 feet—mean challenging conditions for the plants, which yields more flavorful tea in the cup. This china bush lot (DJ 57) is the boldest of our three Darjeeling 2nd Flush picks this season, with a ripe, fruity aroma (think preserved peaches and cooked apples), and deep, satisfying flavors of winter squash and cider donut. The smooth texture encourages sip after sip.
