This top-quality roasted oolong tea is from the same teamaker as our Long Feng Xia High Mountain Oolong Tea offering, also from the renowned Shan Lin Xi region that is known for its pristine growing environment. This tea was made from the 2021 winter harvest; while the colder season usually means a smaller yield, we managed to secure a limited quantity of this wonderful product for our customers. The buds and top leaves were hand-picked, slightly oxidized and rolled into tight balls, before they underwent multiple rounds of charcoal roasting. This roasting process not only added beautiful aroma, it also made this tea a great candidate for long-term aging. Opening the package, the roasted charcoal smell is very present but the leaves are still slightly green with yellow stems. When brewed, the aroma of toasted barley fills the room. The tea is smooth and well-balanced with no bitterness. The taste is earthy and nutty, and reminds one of the forest floor with mushrooms and a tad of mineral salt. This is the perfect tea for a breezy day or an after-dinner treat, bring warmth and calmness.
