One of China’s most legendary teas, Big Red Robe (Da Hong Pao) is from the misty Wuyi Mountains of Fujian Province, where rocky cliffs and mineral-rich soil give rise to the region’s prized “rock oolongs.” This highly oxidized oolong features long, twisted leaves with a deep roasted aroma, complex body, and a lingering mineral finish. Steeped in history and legend, the original tea bushes of Da Hong Pao is said to have cured an emperor’s mother centuries ago. As a reward, a red robe was honorably granted to the farmer to place around the tea bushes, earning fame to the town. Steeping Suggestion: Use 1 tsp/ 8oz cup. Steep 4-5 minutes in 190 °F water.
