Overview
Best pick • solid green choice from Unknown origin
Tip: start at ~95°C, then adjust down 3–5°C if it turns sharp.

Genmaicha is a wonderful tea that is a great discovery if you haven’t tried it before. It combines the leaves of Japanese Sencha with toasted brown rice to give a delightful umami flavour combined with a nuttiness and toastiness from the rice. We however have put our own take on this tea, which purists might frown on, but we love the result. We just wanted to be a little adventurous without spoiling what Genmaicha is about. We have used a combination of Japanese sencha and Chinese green tea, together with toasted rice, calendula and sunflower petals and just a tiny hint of liquorice. This just brings out a subtle sweetness but does not overpower the essence of this well-loved tea. It smells divine, it looks gorgeous and it is very pleasing to drink. We recommend it for all green tea lovers, especially those who like something a little different but if you are an “entry-level” green tea drinker you might find it a good one to start with. This tea does not contain calories despite the fact it contains rice.
