Pu-erh tea produced from the famous Bing Dao village in Lincang, Yunnan province, are sometimes referred to the “queen” of puerh. Harvested from ancient arbor tea trees, Bing Dao teas typically demand high prices due to it’s exceptional quality and its unique flavour profile. The cake of this 2018 vintage of Bing Dao Raw Pu-erh is very pleasing to the eye. A beautiful pressing of large, greenish-brown old tree tea leaves is intertwined with shiny, golden tips, with the pressed leaves still maintaining some elasticity from only a few years of aging. The bright yellow golden tea liquor is soft and delicate at first, with sweet flavours of honey and apricot jam dancing on the palate. After a few infusions, the tea reveals some bitterness and tannins alongside with the fruitiness, and the complexity of this mouth-feel may be what makes this tea highly popular and sought-after. Classic sweet Bing Dao flavour notes of apricot, grape skin and mandarin fallowed by pressing aftertaste.
