Jasmine Jade Ring earns its name honestly: green and white tea leaves, hand-rolled into small rings, layered overnight with fresh jasmine blossoms so the leaves take on the scent naturally rather than through added flavouring. The finer batches go through that scenting process more than once, which builds a deeper, longer-lasting jasmine note. The rolled shape is a newer touch on an old technique, meant partly for show — watching the rings loosen and open as they steep is part of the appeal.
In the cup it leans floral and smooth, with grassy, vegetal notes underneath and a sweetness that runs from honey to cherry blossom. There's no bitterness or astringency to fight through, which makes it an easy, forgiving tea even if the steep runs a touch long. Both the tea leaves and the jasmine come from Fujian, a region with generations of tea-growing behind it, and the finished leaves carry a light, silky mouthfeel that finishes clean.
Brew it at 90°C for about two and a half minutes, no milk or sugar needed. Because it blends green and white leaf, caffeine sits on the lower end of the tea spectrum, so it makes a reasonable afternoon cup as well as a morning one. Tea & Coffee sells it as loose leaf, using roughly 3 to 4 rings per cup, and the leaves are sturdy enough that a light touch on steeping time keeps the floral character from tipping into anything cloying.
