This Tea is a blend of Assam Broken Pekoe, first created to suit the tastes of those living in Portsmouth. Today, however, our Portsmouth Loose Tea 250g has become popular worldwide. But what makes it so special? In our opinion, a lot! First, most Assam Teas promote a smoothness in cup like no other, which combined with malty overtones, makes a match made in heaven. Assam is a state in India, its name meaning “one without equal”; and when it comes to its Tea, nothing is more accurate. Second, the use of BP Teas, which stands for Broken Pekoe, ensures a truly flavoursome cuppa’. How? Because a Broken Pekoe Tea, which sees the leaf literally broken into smaller pieces, allows for an enhanced strength of flavour when brewing. Those who like a “hearty brew” would be hard-pressed to find a better beverage than our Portsmouth Loose Tea 250g. Third, there are astounding health benefits to be had from consuming this Tea, according to the latest scientific research. Providing one eats healthily and exercises frequently, Portsmouth Tea (and all Black Teas, in fact) can support the immune system, lower blood pressure, enhance cognitive function, improve oral health and even reduce the risks of developing type-2 diabetes. Portsmouth Tea is the gift that keeps on giving. It benefits the mind, body and soul in a multitude of ways; but best of all, it tastes absolutely fantastic. Don’t just take our word for it, however – try Portsmouth Loose Tea 250g today and find out for yourself! Useful Information Type of Tea: Loose Leaf Black Tea. Origin: Assam, India. Brewing Instructions: Brew using freshly boiled water and infuse for 3 to 5 minutes. How to Serve: Choose milk, choose sugar, choose honey or choose lemon! Alternatively, serve black. Tasting Notes: Portsmouth Tea offers a defined richness with sweet undertones. Morning, afternoon or evening, this Tea suits any time in the day! Colour in Cup: Coppery liquor, light in tone. Health Benefits: Want to put a smile on your face? Drink Black Tea and improve oral health! New research has surfaced as part of a collaborative study conducted in conjunction with the College of Dentistry at the University of Iowa, USA, and the Institute of Odontology at Göteborg University in Sweden. Participants in the U.S. division of the study used Black Tea to rinse their mouth with for 30 seconds, five times, waiting three minutes between each rinse, simulating the effect of sipping a cup of Tea. The Swedish division of the study, meanwhile, saw participants rinse their mouth with Black Tea for one minute, ten times a day. Both co-operating studies discovered that the more participants rinsed, the more their plaque and bacteria levels fell. But how does this work? The polyphenolic compounds present in Black Tea, including Portsmouth Tea, can kill or suppress cavity-causing bacteria from either growing or producing acid. It can also affect the bacterial enzymes and prevent the formation of the sticky-like material that binds plaque to teeth.
