This is a wild "ye sheng" varietal tea that was processed into a black tea. Of course, black tea is actually "red" tea in Chinese (红茶)! This expertly fermented black tea was crafted using a wild tree purple leaf varietal from the Yong De's Mang Fei Mountain in the far south of Lincang prefecture. This wild tree varietal grows wild in the mountains at an altitude of 1800-1900 meters. Ye Sheng "野生“ varietal aka "Camellia sinensis (L.) Kuntze var. assamica (J. Masters) Kitam." is a primeval varietal that pre-dates Camellia Sinensis var. Assamica and is a naturally occurring non-hybridized varietal. Its potency in cha qi arises from its unadulterated nature. It is naturally bug repellent and grows wild in the forests of Yunnan at an altitude of 1600-2200 meters. A very lightly wilted and processed tea, the green in the leaves is still present and the tea soup is a golden yellow color, much different from the Dehong Wild tree black tea that we also offer. There is a hint of fruit, chocolate and barrel aged rum in the taste and aroma. An exquisite experience! An incredibly rare tea, only 50 kilograms in total production! We also offer a Purple varietal White Tea cake pressed from the same exact area! 2022 Yunnan Sourcing "Dream in Purple" White Te a Cake 2023 Yunnan Sourcing "Purple White Tea" of Yong De Tea Cake and a black tea cake as well: 2023 Yunnan Sourcing "Wild Purple Black" of Yong De Tea Cake Mid-March Harvested 250 Grams per cake (5 Cakes per Bamboo Leaf Tong) Wrapper Design by Studio Maglen This tea has been tested in a certified laboratory for 404 pesticides, and is within the EU MRL limits set for those 404 pesticide residues.
