This 2003 Yiwu Mountain Wild Arbor raw pu-erh, made by Yuen Hai Tea Factory, reimagines the iconic Menghai 7542 recipe with small and medium leaves from Yiwu’s ancient trees. Aged initially in China’s humid climate and later in Vancouver’s dry conditions for over 20 years, it offers a complex, robust profile. A gentle bitterness and subtle dryness frame a rich tapestry of aged wood, dried fruit, and camphor, with a pronounced huigan sweetness lingering in the throat. The deep amber liquor carries a smooth, velvety mouthfeel and aromas of wet bark and florals. Perfect for contemplative sipping, it shines in a medium-high density yixing teapot at 95–100°C with short steeps, yielding 10–15 infusions of evolving depth.
