Overview
Best pick • solid black choice from Unknown origin

Intense. Uniquely floral & spicy in the nose, but heavy in its dark earthiness. A definitive mouthfeel lets the flavors of anise & juniper linger long afterwards. A rare style of Kenya tea. Made in the orthodox style using two leaves and a bud, “Nandi Gold” is an impressive cultivar growing at over 6,500 feet in the Nandi Hills of Kenya. Only a few acres of this cultivar are currently planted so there is very little available. Kenya has the environment to produce some of the finest teas in the world. From the 1940's to the 1970’s, some of the best British-style black teas were from Kenya. From the 1980's through the 2000's, they converted most of their tea industry from orthodox production (a more labor intensive, but higher quality approach to making tea) to CTC (machine) production. They also placed a stronger emphasis on increasing yield at the expense of quality. In the last 10 years, there has been a movement in Kenya back toward the orthodox approach. Ingredients: black tea Steeping Instructions 3 grams | 8 oz water | 212°F | Steep 3 min. Number of Cups 2 oz makes 19 cups, 4 oz makes 38 cups
