The 10th Tea of Christmas! What is Banana Akaras? Well, I don’t know, exactly, because I’ve never actually had Banana Akaras. I “discovered” them while browsing the web looking for a unique banana dessert. According to the recipe that I found, Banana Akaras are banana fritters popular in West Africa & while reading through the recipe, I decided that this was a dessert I would like to interpret into a tea. That said, please do not think that THIS is what Banana Akaras tastes like, because I don’t know if it is. It’s just my *interpretation* of the dessert – tasting a bit like a banana wrapped in warm, caramelized dough with vanilla & a hint of nutmeg. It’s quite tasty! It starts with a blend of black teas (Yunnan & Assam). Then I added bananas, vanilla bean & nutmeg plus my special blend of essence to give it a caramelized donut note. organic ingredients: black teas, bananas, nutmeg, vanilla bean & natural flavors to brew: use 3g of tea (shake that pouch first!) to 12oz of nearly boiling water (205°F) & steep for 3 minutes. Strain & allow to cool for at least 10 minutes. Enjoy! serving suggestion: I like this tea hot, but when I had to step away from a cuppa for a while only to come back to the cup after it had cooled to a “cold” temperature, I found myself enjoying it cold as well. A bit of sugar in your cup will bring out the flavors a bit more, but it’s also quite good without any additions at all.
