Wenshan Baozhong | 文山包種 Tasting notes: Frangipani, vegetal, creamy Origin: Pinglin, New Taipei City, Taiwan Cultivar: 金萱 Jinxuan Elevation: 200-400m Oxidation: ⦿⦿○○○This light green oolong has a floral aroma and fresh flavour, with that signature creamy mouthfeel Taiwanese oolongs are known for.Why we love it: It is quintessentially Taiwanese: that fresh, crisp flavour, that floral aroma, that creamy mouthfeel. It transports you to the misty mountains of Taiwan. It's made by a small family farm run by two avid surfers who are building on five generations of tea-making experience. A testament to their skill, this tea has a brightness and a floral fragrance that is simply unparalleled. It tastes similar to a green tea, because it is so lightly oxidised, but with more aroma, a sweeter flavour and a thicker texture. “Wenshan” 文山 is the old name for the New Taipei City are where this tea is almost exclusively grown. “Baozhong” 包種 means “wrapped type”, referring to the traditional way the tea was wrapped in paper to be sold.
