Typically Yunnan green tea is made from hybridized varietals like Yun Kang #10, Chang Ye Bai Hao, or Yun Kang #100. These hybrids are drought-resistant and typically produce more yield. In recent years pure assamica (non-hybridized) bushes and trees have been used less for creating raw pu-erh and more for black tea and white tea. But why not green tea? Yunnan green tea is typically consumed almost entirely by people living in Yunnan and they quite enjoy the hybrid varietals (of which we sell many). As a result a pure assamica varietal green tea is something of a rarity. Growing in Da Si Village at an altitude of 1700 meters this tea was plucked and processed from first flush tea leaves in early April. The resulting tea has the robustness and viscosity of raw pu-erh, but also has the chestnut green and floral character of a good Yunnan green tea! Region: Da Si Village, Feng Qing County of Lincang (Yunnan) Altitude: 1700 meters Harvest Time: Early April
